Transfer of Learning: Issues and Research Agenda
Abstract
This March 2002 workshop on the transfer of knowledge was held at NSF to "discuss past and present issues of transfer as it pertains to education and to generate a research agenda for the future." The workshop was to inform future research within NSF's Science of Learning Centers (SLC) initiative. The resulting paper is organized around the following three themes: context dependence of transfer, conditions for transfer, and metacognitive issues for transfer of learning. Members interested in research on learning may find this document (including the references) useful.
